Castration Project Clinic
A 15 meter long cart equipped with all the latest technology in sterilization is the great hope to help in the birth control of dogs and cats in the state of Santa Catarina. The project is an initiative of Dr. Marina Dante, responsible for the Castration Project Veterinary Clinic and has already performed more than 150,000 castrations in groups in the states of São Paulo, Goiás and Santa Catarina.
“This project is an old dream of ours, as we have realized through our actions that many places do not have the proper structure to carry out castration surgeries on animals. Now, with our Mobile Unit, we will take the surgical center to any place, says the veterinarian specializing in surgery and oncology.
Produced by Truckvan, the Mobile Unit has the capacity to serve about 100 animals per day and intends to carry out 20 thousand social castrations per year, with affordable prices ranging from R $ 100 to R $ 180. For this, the itinerant veterinary clinic counts on a team of 10 professionals, among veterinary and auxiliary surgeons, and has approximately 40 m² of floor space and 9 air-conditioned rooms, among them a surgical center; a surgical parlor and sterilization room with mini ICU; and a post-surgical room, as well as a kitchen and toilet.
“We use a minimally invasive technique, with a surgical cut that can be up to 10 times lower than traditional castration surgeries, leading the patient to a much calmer recovery,” Marina explains.
Castration efforts are carried out in partnerships with local NGOs, municipalities and municipal sanitary surveillance.
